Make your South Padre Island vacation even better by bringing along your furry four-legged family members. South Padre Island beaches are pet friendly. Pets are welcome almost anywhere as long as they are on a leash. Saida Towers Condominiums generic pet policy allows small, well-mannered, non-shedding breeds of dogs with responsible owners. While we wish we could accommodate all pets, we cannot with varying policies with each home owner’s rental. Cats, miniature horses, reptiles or other animals that are considered pets are not allowed in Saida Towers Condominiums at any time. Most service animals meet the criteria above and are welcome.
When reserving a Saida Towers Condominium online be sure to check the box indicating you are bringing a pet or let the agent assisting you with your reservation over the phone know you would like to bring your pet along. When you have been approved to bring your pet along during your vacation, a pet fee will be listed on your reservation confirmation document. This is the ONLY indication your pet has been approved to accompany you during your stay. Guests who do not receive approval to have pets in pet friendly or non-pet friendly condo will be subject to eviction and/or forfeit their damage deposit.
South Padre Island Code of Ordinances requires your dog is leashed and under control at all times. Be respectful of other visitors and never allow your dog to chase wildlife. Dogs need to be vaccinated against rabies by the age of sixteen weeks to vacation on South Padre Island. Owners can be cited for their dog disturbing the peace by continuously barking or howling. A variety of South Padre Island Restaurants are dog friendly and a few have a dog menu. Check out the Dog Friendly Restaurants on South Padre Island. If you are unsure a restaurant is dog friendly, recommend calling the restaurant ahead of time.
Pets are not allowed on the deck of Malaquite Pavilion, it’s facilities, the boardwalk to the beach and the stretch of beach in front of the Pavilion. However pet owners can still enjoy the park, there is a pet access trail to the beach from the parking lot, restrooms and rinse-off showers nearby the pet access trail. When you reach the beach from the trail, the beach to the right is not open to pets, the beach to the left is. Service animals are welcome in all areas and facilities.
Keep your pet safe, never leave your pet tied up somewhere or unattended in a vehicle. Car temperatures can rise quickly and become fatal. Be aware of dangers that can harm your pet such as rattlesnakes. Make sure to bring water, shade and bags to pick up after your pet. Please help us keep South Padre Island clean and beautiful!

Enjoying South Padre Island Beaches
Where Can I Go and Not Go on the Beach?
All beaches in Texas are public. Condominiums and homes built on the beach do not own the sand all the way out to the water. There are 24 public beach access signs posted along Gulf Blvd that you are welcome to use. Be mindful of where you park. There are two types of beach accesses: city and county. City beach access is free and county beach access has a fee. Along South Padre Island Isla Blanca Park, Andy Bowie Park and County Access 4, 5, & 6 charge a fee to enter.
For more information about each beach access, refer to: www.infopadre.com/Public_Beach_Access.html
There is no overnight parking on public beaches. Beaches are closed between 12:01 AM – 6:00 AM.
Glass is illegal on the beaches of South Padre Island. Broken glass is impossible to see in the sand and can severely hurt beachgoers walking on the beach barefoot or playing in the sand. A hefty fine of $500.00 or more can be imposed for a glass bottle offense.
Renting a property from Saida Towers Condominiums gives you private direct beach access. You will be sharing the beach with others.
What Can or Should I Take With Me to the Beach?
Sunscreen and sandals are two of the most important items to bring with you to the beach. Here on the 26th Parallel, the sun can be intense, including partially cloudy or overcast days. The sand is a very fine grain and can get extremely hot. The closer you are to the ocean water, the cooler the sand.
Take plenty of liquids to prevent dehydration. Note:It is against local ordinance to have any kind of glass bottle or container on the beach. Broken glass is nearly invisible in the sand and can severely hurt beachgoers.
You can load a wagon with anything you may need for a fun day at the beach. Recommend some sort of shade option to take a break from the blazing sun (umbrella, popup tent, canopy, etc.). Beach chairs and beach towels will add to your comfort at the beach. South Padre Island City Ordinance requires that you remove all chairs and umbrellas before sun down.
Saida Towers Condominiums does not provide beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas or ice chests. Items found in the condominiums need to remain there unless specified for beach use.
If I See Vacant Chairs & Umbrellas Can I Use Them?
No, you will need to reserve chairs and umbrellas. The general rental price range for an umbrella and two chairs is $25 to $45 per day. Note: Windy conditions can make it unsafe to have umbrellas open, Beach Service Companies will close the umbrellas when wind conditions make it unsafe. If you bring your own umbrella to the beach, be sure to follow their example.
Beach umbrella and chair services are available at a variety of locations along the beach.
Are There Cautions to be Aware Of in the Water?
There are no lifeguards provided on most of the South Padre Island beaches. Isla Blanca Park has dangerous rip currents during high surf. Lifeguards are on site during the busy times of the year at the county beaches.
Every public beach access point has a Flag Advisory System to let beach goers know of any potential risks. South Padre Island Beach Patrol monitors the conditions and changes the flags. The different colors of the flag indicate the condition of the surf. Please take note when the flags are up and read the sign.
There are jellyfish and stingrays to be cautious of in the water. The Flag Advisory System will warn you of jellyfish in the water.
What are the Best Times of Year to Go To the Beach?
It is always a good time to visit South Padre Island and go to the beach! Every season is different in its own way.
Spring on South Padre Island is considered the beginning of busy season. Spring break kicks off this time of year, starting in late February through the end of March. Texas Week is the busiest week, expect traffic build up to cross the bridge. No matter the influx, there is plenty of availability around these busy days. The weather is warm with the occasional cold fronts and spring rains over a couple of days. The ocean water is usually in the mid 60’s to 70’s and a cool breeze in the evening.
Summer starts Memorial Day weekend. All ages vacation on the island during this time of year to enjoy the warm ocean water, soft sandy beaches and clear blue skies. The average water temperatures are 75-84 degrees. The ocean breeze generally keeps the island 10 degrees cooler than neighboring towns 40 or 50 miles inland. Summer season ends Labor Day weekend.
Fall is a great season to visit and underutilized, starts right after Labor Day weekend. The Fall offers the best weather all year during the months of September, October and November. The Gulf water is warm, average temperatures are 75-84 degrees. Visitors are scarce, you feel you have the whole beach to yourself. Best time of year for surfing, romantic getaways and weddings on the beach.
Winter is still a wonderful time to vacation on the island. Ask all our Winter Texans. Many days they will be on the beach just like it is summer or sunbathing by the heated pools. Winter season starts when the first cold front hits anywhere from early November to mid-December. It’s not unusual to be swimming in the ocean during the month of December. Cold fronts are dreary for a few days.
